What's going on people, Ms. Harlem here..giving you all the bizness. I went to an "Old Skool" hip hop party last night at the Hip Hop Museum in Harlem and it was actually cute. I listened to all the old skool rap and r&b from the 70s, 80s and 90s (ya know when music was really music and people really could sing) and I had a great time dancing to the oldies but goodies.
Remember the Cold Crush Brothers
Some of them were at the party. They being inducted into the Hip Hop Museum Hall of Fame. Remember the clothing from the 80s (you know you thought your clothes were the joint..that's right, I said joint..lol) Look at what the Cold Crush Brothers were wearing back then..

back then, you couldn't tell them that they were not fly wearing this outfit....goodness
And remember when muscle shirts were in and guys would work out just so they could wear a tight muscle shirt..haha.. (and some men need to get the memo...MUSCLE SHIRTS ARE NOT MAKING A COMEBACK.....EVER!!)

And here is what The Cold Crush Brothers look like now.....

They came to the party last night, pretty much dressed like this too... the long white fur coat with the pimp hat and an entourage. You couldn't tell them they were not happening and current..lol
Remember The Boogie Boys (Fly Girl, Share My World)?

do you see the clothes they wore on their album cover and that was the style back in 1985....oooooh boy, you could not tell them anything. They were FRESH!!! Well the first guy is Joe "Romeo J.D." Malloy and he came to the party last night too. He came dressed in the year 2007 (couldn't find a current picture of him). In other words, he looked good. He is also a childhood friend of ours (fourcastnstyle sisters)
Although fashion has changed over the years, there are some 70s and 80s styles that are making a comeback..
The bell bottom pants...they are now called wide leg jeans or flair leg jeans

The leggings and the leg warmers

The platform shoes, now they are making them more fashionable

The shirts with ruffles (now very stylish) and the mini skirts

I wish I could rock mini skirts but I am too tall and the mini skirt will stop right at my behind and if I were to bend over to pick something up... IT'S ALL OVER... everyone will see all my business. To the women that can rock the mini skirts, I say do ya thing.
I wonder what the new fashion lines are going to look like for 2008. What will come back in style from bac in da day?
What tickles your fashion?
I'll holla!!!

ladies be forewarned -- not everyone can wear minis. thet are a) not for the big girls - if your thighs touch, don't do it! b) not for anyone over 30 that's not kate moss c) not cute with hooker pumps. with that said, if you don't have any friends, get some to check you before you leave the house!
